Scope Of Work

Two contracts totaling more than $30 million for the electrical work were completed at Gillette Stadium, home to New England Patriots football and New England Revolution soccer teams. The main scope of work involved constructing the power, lighting, voice and data systems, as well as the aboveground electrical infrastructure for this $325 million, 68,000-seat stadium. The most distinct part of the project was the lighting control system, which automatically controls all stadium lighting through the facility’s command center.

Additional work included installing the 15-kilovolt lineup of outdoor switchgear and a 2,000-kilovolt generator for emergency power systems. Five substations, ranging in capacity from 15 kilovolts to 480 volts, power each quadrant of the stadium and additional buildings. At the project’s peak, the team had more than 200 electricians.

Major quantities for this 16-month project included 310 panelboards, 900,000 feet of raceway, 4 million feet of wire and cable, 11,000 interior light fixtures, 728 sports light fixtures at 1,500 watts, and electrical wiring of the 6,000-square-foot New England Patriots’ team store.
