Scope Of Work
CityCenterDC is a 10-acre mixed-use project intended to create a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood in the heart of downtown Washington, DC, blending retail, entertainment, residential, and office space. Being developed by Hines and Archstone, the $700 million development has a $425 million construction cost and is considered the largest downtown development in the United States. ECS has provided a full array of services for the project, including observations and testing for foundations, soils compaction, concrete, reinforcing steel, waterproofing, structural steel at both the plant and onsite during installation, onsite concrete batch plant inspection, pre-cast plant inspection, and code compliance inspections for building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection. In addition, ECS has provided materials testing to help meet the documentation needs for the owner with regard to their agreement with DDOT for right-of-way areas. ECS’s approach to create client success resulted in substantial savings by averting an unnecessary change order during construction by building consensus among project team members and interpreting the applicable codes as a team. ECS also helped in building cohesion among project team members by proactively participating in the customized design of the Latista reporting system. This custom reporting system improved communication among project team members for all work in general, and especially for work related to post-tensioned elevated decks and code compliance inspections during construction.
