Scope Of Work

L.A. LIVE is a retail, entertainment, and sports development in downtown Los Angeles’ South Park district. Set  a 20-acre site, this landmark project hosts more than 200 million visitors each year and has helped to revitalize downtown Los Angeles.

Clark served as the general contractor on several components of the L.A. Live & Nokia Theater complex, including the 7,100-seat Nokia Theatre, the AEG Building, the ESPN Building, and a two-story below-grade parking garage that provides structural support for the complex.

The Nokia Theatre is one of L.A. Live’s main attractions. It hosts live music concerts, cultural events, and glamorous industry  shows, including the American Music  and the Primetime Emmy . The theatre’s striking glass and metal panel exterior serves as design inspiration for the entire L.A. Live complex.

The AEG and ESPN building are a mix of office, retail, production, and restaurant space. The 408,000 square-foot AEG Building is home to the GRAMMY Museum, the Club Nokia music venue, a radio broadcast facility, corporate office space, and several upscale restaurants. The ESPN Building is the West Coast headquarters of the worldwide sports network. The building contains production and broadcast facilities, offices, and an ESPN Zone restaurant.

The project team met the client's expedited schedule and overcame complicated site logistics, weather delays, and complicated sequencing to deliver L.A. Live & Nokia Theater on time and in budget. Less than one week after receiving the Temporary Certificate of Occupancy, the Eagles and Dixie Chicks christened the new performing arts venue with a string of six consecutive sold-out concerts.

The project’s significance to Los Angeles was captured by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, “Without a doubt, Nokia Theatre…is the cherry on top of the major successes we're witnessing in downtown.” Throughout construction, Clark ensured the construction process was a success with the local community.
