Scope Of Work
A new 34,100 square foot facility accommodated continued growth of this key community partner. The Dane County Humane Society needed a lowmaintenance,
long-lasting facility that would accommodate the roughly 9,000 pets in their care each year, include space to facilitate adoptions and fundraising activities, and inspire support.
The facility design emphasized function, and construction accommodated the wetland-adjacent site. The nonprofit successfully raised $5 million to fund the project.
More than 15 years after construction, the facility remains state-of-the-art. Among its most appreciated features are:
• A large, interactive corridor connecting the veterinary clinic, animal viewing, reception and staff areas
• Kennels with specialized epoxy floor and wall systems, aluminum stainless steel enclosures, masonry walls, acoustic panels, and sophisticated trench drains for easy cleaning
• Specialized mechanical systems that prevent the spread of disease
NCI-Roberts has since completed several additional projects for the society; most notable is a 1,200 square foot Wildlife Center renovation.
