Scope Of Work

This Combat Readiness Training Facility is used by approximately 200 military units each year for training purposes. The Air National Guard, active Air Force, Marine, and other military units utilize the facility to simulate the events that may be encountered during their military service, whether during overseas missions, terrorist attacks or national catastrophes such as Hurricane Katrina.

Special cable trays were fabricated and installed along interior walls to allow each unit to install cabling as required to operate their own equipment, in both primary and alternate command posts. A contemporary acoustical ceiling system was installed in the mass briefing room for privacy and sound absorption.

Building construction utilized brick veneer, ground faced block, jumbo masonry units, ultra burnished block, metal wall panels, and a standing seam roof system. The interior walls were constructed using abuse resistant drywall. Aluminum windows were designed to withstand implosion using specialized glass and fasteners as required per the United States Department of Defense Facilities’ Criteria. Masonry walls were inspected daily to establish that no audio or visual device had been covertly installed within the wall cavities.

Throughout the construction process, background security checks were completed for all construction and delivery personnel prior, and delivery trucks had to be escorted to the construction site. Construction crews were required to be vigilant to protect against debris or other items that could have interfered with runway traffic safety.
