Climatec is providing a networked Life Safety/Alarm System for the new Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University. This new construction project consists of seven (7) buildings totaling 543,116-square-feet. Barrett, The Honors College, will open the first four year residential college of its kind in the fall of 2009.
The new Barrett facility, located on the Tempe campus, will offer new housing to 1700 students and will feature its own dining center, classrooms, café, faculty and administrative offices, and activity space. Amenities will include an amphitheater, computer lounge and lab, classrooms, outside activity courts, fitness center, and dining hall with covered terrace, garden, and a variety of dining rooms. The honors college, designed with input from Barrett students, meets silver certification standards on the LEED Green Building Rating System and will feature a student run sustainable living community, with low-consumption
Climatec will be engineering, furnishing and commissioning over 900 smoke/heat detectors detectors, 1800 horn strobes and 7 networked control panels . Each building will be reporting to the ASU Police Department FireWorks Graphical Command Center via ASU’s dedicated fire alarm fiber network. For secondary/redundant reporting, all devices will be reporting to ASU’s facility management services via the wide area network.
