Scope Of Work
Bartlett Cocke General Contractors was selected by Northside Independent School District to provide much-needed water space for the District’s Aquatics Program, which at the time included hundreds of athletes on teams at 11 high schools. The new Swim Center is used year-round by Northside ISD swimmers, divers, water polo teams and community groups. The complex includes a 50-meter competition swimming pool, Olympic-size outdoor swim stadium, adjacent Olympic style diving pool and warm-up pool to include a diver tower platform for 1 Meter (M), 3M, 5M, 7.5M and 10M dive competitions as well as two springboards.
The Swim Center meets both international and national standards set by USA swimming and features shaded seating for 2,500 spectators and athletes as well as high-tech timing, lighting, sound and LED video scoreboard systems. These systems allow for in-house video production capabilities including cameras and animation graphics. Locker room facilities accommodate as many as 1,200 athletes. The aquatics complex – including the Natatorium – is the only one of its kind in the central United States and attracts major regional, state, national and international competitions, which in turn draws thousands of athletes, coaches and their families to San Antonio.
The United States Water Fitness Association recently ranked the Northside ISD Aquatics Program the top school district aquatics program in the nation and the No. 1 overall program in Texas, based on services to the community and students.
