Scope Of Work
Barton Malow provided general contracting and self-perform construction services to the City of Toledo for electrical upgrades at the Collins Park Water Treatment Plant.
The scope of work included setting and final termination of two 7.5 MVA substation transformers in conjunction with constructing a new substation to provide new electrical service the treatment plant while maintaining operations of the facility. The scope also entailed the construction of a new switchgear building and reinforced concrete ductbank to distribute new power to every facility within the plant.
Other improvements included replacement of the High Service Pump Station service pump motor starters; replacement of the existing 7200V and 480V power systems; upgrades to the Russelectric Generator Control System, Sludge Dewatering Facility, and Waste Washwater Handling Facility; and the adaptation of existing interior areas into new electrical rooms to further distribute the new power. Self-perform services included the installation of approximately 2,000 LF of storm sewer; utility upgrades for an expanded contractor trailer complex; concrete foundations for the new crash-resistant entrance, substation and screenwalls, and installation of the concrete ductbank. Replacement of approximately 100 sluice gate and valve actuators in active positions was included as part of the services provided.
