Scope Of Work
Quandel Construction Group partnered with Pennrose Properties, LLC for a revitalization project that transformed the original historic Steelton-Highspire Elementary School into the Felton Lofts Complex.
The project included rehabilitating three late 19th and early 20th century school buildings on a four acre urban site and turning them into 83 general occupancy units for affordable family housing. The 152,328 square feet of space in all three buildings includes a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units in the Felton and Main buildings, a community center in the former auditorium, an indoor parking garage, and additional units in the gymnasium.
To preserve the beauty and character of the building, roof upgrades were completed and the building?s exterior masonry was re-pointed and cleaned. Many distinctive features of this historic landmark were preserved including the detailed moulding, wood wainscoting, and high coffered ceilings.
