Scope Of Work
Munoz performed structural engineering for a new waste water treatment facility to be constructed at the Wards Island Waste Water Treatment Plant. The buildings and overall facility is a demonstration project for a unique deconstruction process called “SHARON”.
The SHARON Building is a 25,900 sf facility with a second phase 12,500 sf addition. Muñoz is also the prime A/E consultant for the Battery E Blower Building and electrical Sub-station. The main structure will be the 196 ft. x 132 ft. SHARON Reactor Tanks, with a blower building set over the tank structure, a chemical building, and Blower and Heat Exchanger Building.
The SHARON tanks will be a reinforced concrete structure set approximately 12 feet below the finished ground surface. The blower building will house eight blowers each weighing about 7.5 tons. The chemical building will contain nine tanks, each with a load of 23 to 27.5 tons. The Blower and Heat Exchanger Building is to contain 14 tanks with loads of 7 to 7.5 tons.
