Scope Of Work
Services included project management, inspections, estimating, scheduling, contract administration, change order analysis/preparation, contractor proposal analysis, progress meetings coordination, and contract files maintenance. The construction work consisted of the construction of 1.5 miles of utility tunnel and trenches, and associated valve vaults areas, at the NIH Bethesda campus (16 different phases). New utilities included: 36” chilled water supply and return piping, 12” high pressure steam, 2” high pressure steam condensate, 16” domestic water piping, several 20-way and 24-way electrical ductbanks, 15” sanitary lines, 20” through 48” system lines. All related valves and associated manholes for the mechanical systems were also included. Coordination with campus activities and NIH departments were critical, utilities shut downs and road closures had to be properly scheduled as to not interfere with research activities while maintaining the project completion date on schedule.
