Our Story
For 65 years, Grunwell-Cashero has been serving the needs of the construction industry as a family-owned and operated business. Below are some of the highlights of those years.
1950's
Fidell Sr. purchases business from Roy Grunwell. At this point Grunwell has been in business for close to 40 years. Fidell takes over his existing clients. Fort Shelby Hotel and numerous downtown Detroit buildings.
1960's
Company is awarded project on Fisher Building restoring the decorative golden tower. Skilled tradesmen expand workforce, and Fidell’s expertise of restoration grows.
1970's
Toledo office officially opens. Large contract for work on City County Building (now Coleman A. Young Building) is awarded. Work includes removing all of the marble veneer, replacing the structural steel and resetting the marble panels.
1980's
Levin Courthouse significant 4-year project removing the top third of the limestone veneer and replacing the structural steel. Helicopter was used to set the rigging on the roof of the federal building.
1990's
Cleveland office opens, and lands large restoration project at Severance Hall. Work included substantial stone and structural steel restoration at the main entrance. Scott Cashero named President.
2000's
Renovation work awarded for The Henry Ford/Greenfield Village. Massive project is successfully completed in short period of time. Jelane Cashero-Raycraft joins management team.
2010's
Fidell Cashero is inducted into the Michigan Construction Hall of Fame for his lifetime contribution to the construction industry.
