Scope Of Work
Situated off the shore of the Anacostia River in the “Yards” (just north of the Nationals Ball Park), this stand-alone building houses the Dirstrict’s first winery.
On auger piles and a thickened concrete slab, the steel structure is cladded in a custom aluminum curtain wall system providing a 360 degree view of the re-developed Yards. A wood rain screen system softens the glare of the glass and compliments the boardwalk along the river in the same Ipe material.
Advancing in DC’s Green Builiding Codes, 90% of the roof surface collects rain water to a vegetative “green roof”, refusing the need for an expensive and site constrained water retention system.
