Scope Of Work

The McElroy College Road Café is one of three on-campus mini marts that is a pizza shop and market that doubles as a study lounge for Boston College students looking to grab a quick bite and do some school work.

The renovation started with selective demolition of the old millwork, flooring and lighting fixtures. Once the ceiling was removed, MEP systems were reconfigured due to the increase in square footage from demolishing a demising wall that separated the lounge from the market.

When MEP work concluded, new finish work commenced, including installation of new luxury vinyl tile which instantly made a dramatic change in how bright the space now appears. A half wall was constructed with clear tempered glass extending to the finishing ceiling. Also included was new millwork consisting of high top and low top banquette seating that stretched alongside the half wall. The server line received new laminate with a new solid surface countertop.

Once the space was fully constructed, Caldwell & Walsh coordinated the furniture delivery and installation with Boston College to complete the project. Students have utilized this space to its full potential since its opening - and it doesn't look like that will be slowing down anytime soon.
