Scope Of Work

Why cover bleachers with a fabric shade structure?  Because water polo fans baked while having to look at such inviting water!  The also faced bright glare because western sunlight bounced off the water and pool deck.

That’s what water polo fans experienced at Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, California.  Devoted family members and friends sat in the bleachers for hours watching the matches.  They particularly proved team loyalty on days when temperatures exceeded 100 degrees!

We designed and constructed a tension fabric structure to cover the bleachers and shade the fans.  The cantilevered beams extend 16′ from the (3) columns out to the water’s edge.  Fans have unimpaired views because there are no front columns.  The shade structure is 65′ long and has a single, hip roof of UV shade cloth.

I once thought that wrestling and swimming were the most physically-demanding sports.  Having watched the team practice and compete while we construted the structure…I now think water polo is toughest.  I got tired just watching.
