Scope Of Work

This new three-story, 63,000 s.f. residence provides housing for 180 students. The building program responds to the school’s housing needs, particularly for academic and professional program participants during “out of school” sessions. Imitating a hotel design, each student’s room has a private bath. The ground floor commons is large enough to hold full resident meetings and features a built-in media console, therefore doubling as a teaching area. The building’s basement presented a solution to the attached library’s need for archive space, but required a separate entry lobby, elevator and stair. An independent mechanical system maintains the environmental control required for archival storage. A geo-source heat pump system with a geothermal loop provides the heating and air conditioning for the building.
