Scope Of Work

Market Square Park is located in the heart of the Ohio City neighbrohood, across  from Cleveland’s historic West Side Market. Developed through a highly community-driven process, the design creates an active destination that builds upon its context and establishes a real sense of place.  The plan’s influence extends across the perimeter streets to the West Side Market in order to integrate surrounding activity and provide flexible spaces that are home to outdoor markets, festivals and concerts. Dramatic diagonal axis are defined by special paving and directional landscaping. They connect the park's corners with a large central plaza, which also serves as an open seating area for the performance stage at the park’s north end.

Like many of our designs, public art plays a significant role in the park's identity. Sculptures, including customized seating, and murals on surrounding buildings accentuate the aspects of "harvest" and celebrate the West Side Market's role as a nationally recognized farmer's market. Market Square Park's role within the neighborhood preserves and enhances beautiful open space while complementing the iconic West Side Market.
