Scope Of Work
The City of Clemson and Clemson University are inter-dependant, even when it comes to their architecture. Despite Marriot's clearly defined standards for the Courtyard brand, the city's architectural review board insisted that the hotel's exterior reflected the traditional brick buildings common to the university campus. Ponder & Ponder, Architects researched the architectural history and developed a unique Courtyard hotel, with a brick exterior, deep overhangs and oversized roof support brackets inspired by the residential barracks buildings once common to the area. The true masonry brick exterior material only extends to the top of the first floor, while the upper floors utilize a new and innovative technology in synthetic stucco building finish systems, a stenciled finish with a brick pattern and color that is designed to convincingly imitate real masonry. The exterior pool and courtyard spaces closely follow Marriott Standards, while the Lobby and interior dining spaces were part of a custom interior design package designed around the owners specific needs and desires. The resulting hotel was recently listed in Marriott's Annual Property rankings in the following categories:
Overall Guest Satisfaction - 92.8, ranking us 118/789 in the brand. Brand average is 79.9
Overall Physical Condition - 3/789 in the brand.
Lobby Comfortable for Working - #1 out of 789 in the brand.
Room Cleanliness - 6/789 in the brand
Well designed Working Area - #1 out of 789
Bathroom Overall - 12/789
