Scope Of Work

Gilford's role in the construction of the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, cornerstone of the $2 billion, 350-acre mixed-use project on the banks of the Potomac River in Prince George's County, MD was twofold:

Project Management Support: Gilford provided management support to the Perini/Tompkins Joint Venture, general contractor for Phase I and II construction of the 2,000-room Hotel and Convention Center. Gilford oversaw mechanical and plumbing construction and commissioning for the Hotel, Convention Center, and Central Plant.

General Contracting: Gilford also served as General Contractor for the majority of the Phase II 500-room expansion of the Hotel, which brought the number of guestrooms from 1,500 to 2,000.

Upon its completion in first quarter 2008, the Gaylord National became one of the largest convention hotels on the Eastern Seaboard. With a soaring 18-story glass atrium, spectacular views of the Potomac River, and nearly two acres of gardens, the hotel features luxurious accommodations, four top-rated restaurants, spa and fitness center with indoor pool, nightclub, and private marina along with an assortment of shops and entertainment venues. The 470,000 sf Convention Center includes Exhibit Halls, Ballrooms, Meeting Rooms, and associated support spaces and the central plant.
