Scope Of Work
Located in the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport is a new destination for California Highway Patrol (CHP) planes and helicopters. The new 12,000 square foot metal building was configured to serve multiple purposes, reserving 4,000 square feet for office use and 8,000 square feet for aircraft storage. The hanger includes all the required elements to protect the CHP aircrafts from damaging weather and sunlight, while also providing service and clean parts provisions to the aircrafts. Unique features of the hanger include 45 foot wide bi-fold hanger doors, back-up generators, and an evaporative cooler system for the hanger that is well suited for the local climate.
Constructed under a design-build project delivery method, Lusardi Construction was able to work closely with the project architect (Davy Architecture) and Division of State Architect (DSA) to ensure the building was constructed in accordance with all DSA requirements. Beyond it’s DSA approval, the building also complies with legislation under the Essential Services Building Seismic Safety Act, meaning the building was designed to provide essential services to the public after any disaster.
