Conduct
\r\n
I expect you to behave in a professional manner. This means:
\r\n
- Respect others and their opinions.
- Turn assignments in on time.
- Come to class prepared, having completed the assigned reading.
- Turn cell phones to vibrate or off during class and do not use the phone during class time (to text or otherwise).
- Feel free to use a laptop for note taking only (no internet, gaming, etc.)
- Do not talk when the instructor (or a student who has the floor) is talking.
- Adhere to standards of academic integrity/honesty.
- Do not plagiarize. Plagiarism is the act of passing someone else’s work (e.g. ideas or exact words) as one’s own. If you are confused about what constitutes plagiarism, feel free to discuss this with me during office hours.
- Do not use vulgar language in class.
- If you must log on late, do not disrupt the class during lecture.
- Do not engage in excessive, disruptive, or distracting conversation or activity during class.
\r\n
\r\n
\r\n
Attendance & Participation
\r\n
Regular attendance is important to success in this course. There may be in-class activity assignments and/or pop-quizzes that may not be made up. Exams or quizzes may contain questions from material learned in class during films, in-class activities, discussions, and lecture.
\r\n
\r\n
Class participation is critical to your success and learning experience in this course. You must be present when attendance is taken (10 minutes after class has started) and be present the entire class period to receive participation points for that day. Students must also actively participate during class time (where appropriate) to earn participation points. Students with excessive absences, late arrivals, early departures, or disruptive behavior will likely be dropped by the instructor. Be aware of S F Johnson Consulting policy that students are expected to attend all sessions of the class in which they are enrolled. A student may be dropped from any class when that student’s absences exceed six percent (6%) of the total hours of class time. Students who do not show for the first class meeting shall be dropped from a class (rare exceptions may be made at the discretion of the instructor). Students who miss more than 2 class meetings will likely be dropped without notice.
\r\n
\r\n
\r\n
Late Quizzes
\r\n
Students are expected to make their best attempt to take all quizzes on time; that being said, I do understand that certain circumstances occasionally arise that make that not possible. Late quizzes may be taken with the following constraints:
\r\n
- The student must have attended all previous classes.
\r\n
- The student must make time out of regular class time to take the quiz.
\r\n
\r\n
\r\n

Participation – Includes active participation during class time. Note that students are expected to be in class before attendance is taken (about 10 minutes after the start of class) and stay the entire period to earn these points. Each class meeting is included in this portion of the grade.
\r\n
\r\n
Quizzes - Are relatively short weekly quizzes on the material you have learned and will be giving on the first class meeting of the week. These may include multiple choice, fill in the blank, T/F and short answer items. Note that students are expected to be present at the start of to take these and get credit for them.
\r\n
\r\n
Final Exam – There will be a final exam that covers every topic. This is a timed test and must be completed during class time.
\r\n
