Scope Of Work
DESCRIPTION
A 143,000 sf medical center addition, with two floors of under-building parking, at the front of the campus where existing services are shared.
CHALLENGE
Column loads at the foundation range from approximately 18 kips to 816 kips. Various subsurface conditions were revealed up to a depth of 80 ft below existing grade. Ground water, or evidence of ground water, was encountered at approximately 157 ft.
SOLUTION
Based on the soil conditions, the Geopier system was determined to be the best solution. A total of 403 thirty-inch diameter Geopier elements were installed to depths of 8 to 20 ft below the foundation base.
