Scope Of Work
C&L Contracting was engaged to construct a ground-level restaurant facility for the New York Aquarium located at West 8th Street and Surf Avenue in Brooklyn. The project included the construction of a new wood frame building that sits on a mat slab foundation, which had to be constructed at low tide due to the elevation of the location. This ground-up project included a new exterior, including roof and wood siding with battens. The new restaurant facility of approximately 7,000 square-feet now offers indoor seating capacity for 132 patrons, including a walk-up service counter, staff dining rooms and restrooms. The dining area was subdivided to create a dedicated space to host meetings or serve as staff dining, and an adjacent outdoor area now provides an additional 180 seats. A water feature and related landscaping were integrated into the restaurant’s frontage. The scope of work also included new site utilities, including mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
