Scope Of Work

Optim Healthcare, a collaboration of Optim Orthopedics, Optim Medical Center-Screven, and the physician-owned Optim Medical Center-Tattnall, contracted with Evans General Contractors (Evans) on multiple expansion projects to two existing medical buildings - The Optim Spine Center and Optim Surgery Center.

Scope of work for both buildings included demo of existing spaces and the installation of a temporary positive air system to mitigate dust during construction and to make sure the area stayed clean while the buildings were in operation. Work was performed after normal working hours and on weekends to prevent interference during normal building hours.

Projects in the spine center included installation of an elevator pit with elevator large enough to accommodate gurneys, and the renovation of several exam rooms, waiting room, X-ray suite and some small offices. In the renovated spaces, a nurse call system, access control system and a public address system that tied into the buildings existing systems were installed.

To keep the Surgery Center functioning, all expansion efforts were  in phases. Total projects included the installation of several extended care rooms, operating recovery areas, restrooms and some small offices. Evans also reworked the front entrance of the building installing a new storefront vestibule. A MedGas, nurse call, access control, and public address systems to tie into the existing systems in the building were also installed.
