Our Story

We are a multi-dimensional company, currently providing a full spectrum of facility maintenance services to multi-family housing complexes, commercial, industrial, municipal, and retail centers throughout the Midwest and across the country. Specializing in large multi-property portfolios, we are able to efficiently, effectively, and aesthetically manage all aspects of your properties needs; cutting your costs and saving you time.  

In 1977, Brian Yaffa founded B&L Landscaping, envisioning a landscaping company that could provide professional location-specific services to its clients.  What began as a business with a fleet of two pick-up trucks has since evolved into one of the largest facility maintenance companies in the Midwest.  Still family-owned and operated, Brilar has built its business on the belief and practice that customer service goes beyond fulfilling contractual agreements. At Brilar, we are a single source for facility maintenance, offering infinite solutions.

Grounds Maintenance programs are customized for each property and our objective is to meet and exceed your expectations. We also provide large area mowing services for freeway slopes, open fields, roadways, and vacant lots.  Our talented team of professionals have implemented time-tested philosophies and practices to ensure you receive exceptional service and care during the spring, summer and fall. We’ve created a system that allows each program to be customized based on your preferences, creating a grounds maintenance package that best achieves your organization’s project and financial objectives.

Brilar Field Staff are composed of three groups to ensure that only properly-trained professionals are performing service at your locations.

  • Mowing Crews: Responsible for all grass cutting
  • Weeding Crews: Responsible for all weed removal from landscape beds and edging of turf areas
  • Enhancement Crews: Perform all specialized landscape installs and enhancements (i.e. mulch and annual flower installation, tree trimming, fertilization, irrigation etc.)

Each region is staffed with an industry certified Area Manager to work directly with field staff and monitor quality control at all of their locations. Your team will have direct access to your Area Manager at all times for answers to quality control and service schedule questions.

Each account is assigned one of our highly trained account managers, who, like your Field Supervisor, is available 24/7 to answer your questions regarding content and alterations to your contract, additional services, and enhancements.

Normal Grounds Maintenance operations take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00am and 7:00pm. Each location receives grounds maintenance service every 7 to 10 days, based on client preferences and site conditions. Our Grounds Maintenance Program is designed around a core group of services most utilized by our clients.
