Project Information

Project Location:
TX
Status:
Completed
Structure Type:

Scope Of Work

The project included 100+ boulders for bank stabilization and instream habitat improvement. The bank revetment work entailed keying in boulders into the stream bed, and stacking 2 to 3 courses of boulders to ensure the revetment higher than that of flood stage levels. The bank revetment was backfilled with excavated material from the stream bed. The angle of repose from the flood plain to the top course of boulders was approx. 3:1 when complete. The instream fish habitat structures included cross-vanes, vortex weirs, offset J-hook structures, and boulder clusters constructed of rocks that were set at a grade so they can effectively scour pools below the structure and effectively mobilize fine sediment during high flows of the creek. Spacing was spread out far enough to ensure sufficient grade upstream of each structure to prevent deposition of fine material. Each structure was keyed into the bank revetment, and placed on footer rocks installed in the stream bed to ensure longevity and proper function. Structures were placed at angles that prevented excessive pressure on the banks of the stream. Work at the Middle East Fork Site included diverting water using an instream structure from multiple channels into the largest channel to increase the efficacy of the instream structures in this stream reach. Jamison was on-site throughout the entire project and acted as the Project Manager on the project.
