Nova Bus contracted with VIP Structures to design, build and develop its new bus assembly plant in the Banker Road Industrial Park, Plattsburgh, New York.

Nova Bus, a public transit vehicles manufacturer headquartered in St-Eustache, Quebec, Canada (a division of Volvo Group, headquartered in Sweden) contracted with VIP Structures to design, build and develop its new bus assembly plant in the Banker Road Industrial Park, Plattsburgh, New York.
The 140,000 SF plant included a 25-foot clear height, 20-station bus assembly area with associated overhead cranes, bus wash bay, compressed air system and fluid delivery system. It also included administrative offices, training room, an employee break room and locker facilities. In addition to the plant, we constructed on the property a bus test track, fueling station with required containment, and parking for 280 cars. We designed the project to allow for building expansion and the construction of an additional 500 parking spaces.
After bid procedures and evaluation, we were awarded the project, finalized the design and approval process and completed the construction of the plant. By acting as the owner/developer of the project, we eliminated the construction risk to Nova Bus and reduced the overall project schedule. This project allowed Nova Bus to expand its operations in the United States.
