Scope Of Work
The 34,500 SF addition to Building 212 at the Detroit Arsenal expands the Army’s research and development capabilities in power and energy technology. The addition includes eight laboratory spaces: Power and Energy Vehicle Environmental Lab (PEVEL), Power Lab, Electrical Power Integration Lab, Electrical Components Lab, Pulse Power & Directed Energy Lab, Thermal Fluids Lab, Fuel Cell Lab and Air Infiltration Lab. The building also includes operational support areas and special construction such as sound-rated rooms and exhaust removal systems. The largest lab in the addition at 7,000 square feet is the PEVEL. This lab functions to conduct dynamometer testing of vehicles with conventional powertrain configurations in various temperatures as well as various humidity levels and solar loading.
