Scope Of Work
G&M Earth Moving, Inc. provides their excavating and site development capabilities to Brookhaven National Laboratory, aka BNL by winning bids to perform Job Order Contracts (JOCs). When awarded BNL's Office of Modernization stipulates that every contractor have an approved Site Safety Manager. Knowing our company has been providing approved Site Safety Managers at BNL since 2013, G&M Earth Moving,Inc. selected us to support them on their JOC awards. BNL has a strong safety record and do not permit anyone visitor or worker to work unsafely. Their team of Safety Engineers visit every contractor site throughout the day to ensure compliance to the DOE safety standards. Our Site Safety Managers interact with BNLs Safety Engineers and have earned their respect for maintaining a safe workplace for G&M's workers.
A typical JOC project performed by G&M Earth Moving, Inc. involves demolition and replacement of sidewalks, curbs, other concrete flat work and asphalt roadways. The challenge here is maintaining access around the worksite for drivers and pedestrians at an active government laboratory. Our Site Safety Managers ensure that Maintenance and Protection of Traffic plans are followed. They conduct safety inspections, document unsafe conditions and provide corrective actions. Every JOC has at least one Phase Hazard Analysis or PHA. The PHA identifies the task in steps, the hazards and methods to follow to prevent the hazards from creating risk of injury or property damage. Our Site Safety Managers review the PHAs daily with the workers to ensure the PHAs are followed while the work proceeds.
Going on 2 years now we have successfully supported G&M in their JOC projects having worked with them on more than 20 JOC contracts. The efforts of our Site Safety Managers have resulted in no OSHA recordables, no government property damage, no injuries and no job shut-downs. G&M sees the value we bring and continues to offer our company the opportunity to provide them with dependable well-qualified Site Safety Managers at BNL.
