Scope Of Work
The Child Development Center was built for the Morale Welfare and Recreation Services at the Fort Drum Military Base, located in upstate New York. The 15,850 square foot facility serves as a day care center to accommodate 126 children ranging from 6 weeks of age to 5 years of age. The single story facility contains eight day care rooms, an activity room, full commercial kitchen, support offices, training room, administrative lounge, toilet facilities, storage rooms and support spaces. The facility includes outdoor activity areas with playground equipment, installation of a video surveillance system and connection to a utility monitoring and control system.
The facility is designed to meet the standards of the most widely accepted rating system for high performance green buildings – the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) award of the U.S. Green Building Council, (USGBC). Innovative design and construction techniques along with the application of state-of-the art technology help conserve material and promote energy efficiency, a healthier work environment and sustainable land use.
