Scope Of Work
Gilbane provided design-build services for the 25,723 SF Estrella Mountain Police Precinct in Phoenix. It houses over 200 police officers and is comprised of nine holding areas, a three-bay shooting range, administrative areas, locker rooms, equipment and evidence storage, a public meeting space, secured parking for 300 vehicles and ADA restrooms.
The scope of the project included off-site street improvements to accommodate the new facility. Gilbane was responsible for the replacement of a historic canal, which necessitated the removal of several 60-year-old pecan trees, which was performed in conjunction with the Bureau of Reclamation and the State Historic Preservation Office. The process was commemorated in the form of plaques for each pecan tree that was remove.
Gilbane also provided design-build services for construction of the 4,640 SF, four-bay vehicle maintenance building adjacent to the precinct. The facility includes multiple designated storage spaces, office areas and a 5,000 gallon above-ground fuel storage tank with pumps. The building consists of painted CMU exterior walls, steel joist roofing structure, with a built-up foam roof, and sealed concrete flooring.
This prototype design was utilized for additional City of Phoenix precinct facilities.
