Scope Of Work
T.Y. Lin International (TYLI) served as Prime Consultant to the City of Highland in California for the Jennifer Lynne Brooks Memorial Bridge, formerly known as the Greenspot Road Bridge. Services included the project approval and environmental document (PA&ED), plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E), and construction support.
TYLI was responsible for assisting the City in obtaining Federal Highway Bridge Program funding for the project. This involved preliminary engineering to establish the project scope and cost estimate, researching the historical significance of the existing two-lane bridge, compiling necessary documentation, and preparing and submitting the application package.
The project constructed a new four-lane bridge (striped for two lanes) adjacent to the existing bridge on Greenspot Road at the Santa Ana River crossing. The replacement structure is a 270-foot-long, three-span prestressed concrete box girder that carries two 12-foot-wide vehicular lanes and an eight-foot-wide shoulder on each side. Total approach roadway width is 40 feet.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
TYLI realigned the approaches to accommodate minimum design standards and construct channel improvements.
The existing bridge remained in service during construction, with TYLI overseeing temporary and permanent right-of-way acquisitions.
The original Greenspot Road Bridge bridge was preserved and rehabilitated for pedestrian, bicycle, and equestrian uses.
The new crossing significantly enhances driver safety.
