Scope Of Work

Very unique floor that needed to be recoated with the renovation of the theater.  The floor had a tile mosaic winding thru the whole area that represented the hurricane paths that have come thru the state of North Carolina.  The original scope of work for the project was removing the old floor coating and applying a new coating that would match colors of the new carpet along with sealing the tile in the mosaic to give the tile a gloss finish.  The design group then decided that the floor needed to meet the carpet in the middle of four columns going down each vertical side.  In order to make this work Composites Work extended the concrete flooring surface 4 inches on each vertical side at a thickness of 3/4 inch.  Due to complete hand grinding and small dremel grinding to work around mosaic areas the floor prep took 3 times the normal amount of time for a 1400 square foot area.  The underlayment that was installed 10 years ago was in very pour shape so a lot of patch work was required due to cracks and soft areas in the underlayment that were uncovered after floor grinding.
