Scope Of Work
This project included repairs to the pier superstructure (reinforced concrete decking, beams, and pile caps), and repairs to the existing pier deck slab, under deck slab soffit, concrete beams, bent pile caps, and piles.
Because of the location of the damaged concrete areas underneath the pier, detailed safety planning and continuous focus on necessary precautions were of the utmost importance. Nova’s Safety and Health Accident Prevention Plan, designed specifically for this project (as on all Nova projects), was executed exceptionally well by Nova’s crew and subcontractors, resulting in zero accidents with no lost time. Nova determined that portions of the under-deck rebar was not in need of repair and was able to deduct over $175,000 from the initial award value of the contract for concrete and rebar replacement for under-deck pile cap and pile repairs, top deck repairs, and temporary shutdown costs.
