Scope Of Work
PROJECT: A tornado severely damaged many buildings on campus requiring extensive structural drying, mold remediation and major reconstruction efforts. CHALLENGES: Original contractor was released from the project after their first few months when no progress was realized. This left the university in a tough situation, absolutely needing to complete 80 percent of the repairs in four months, prior to classes beginning for the Fall semester. Completing the amount of work needed in the given timeline was thought to be impossible by all parties involved, insurers, consultants and university administrators. Prioritizing scope of work and fast-tracking design and architectural needs were top objectives, along with assembling production groups to execute. RESULTS: BluSky immediately formed the large mitigation, environmental and structure teams required. This included drawing on trade partners and suppliers from across the country to obtain materials and mobilizing at once. Important relationships with city and university officials were built, developing clear communication and approval protocols to expedite decision making. The teams often worked seven days a week, resulting in the project being completed on time, allowing students to return to campus attending classes as originally scheduled. Large business interruption and university payouts were avoided due to this success.
