Scope Of Work
The scope of this project was to conduct radon measurement for the Western Springs School District 101 schools, including:
FIELD PARK ELEMENTARY: 4335 Howard Avenue, Western Springs, IL 60558
FOREST HILLS ELEMENTARY: 5020 Central Avenue, Western Springs, IL 60558
LAIDLAW ELEMENTARY: 4072 Forest Avenue, Western Springs, IL 60558
MCCLURE JUNIOR HIGH: 4225 Wolf Road, Western Springs, IL 60558
The challenges included working around occupied buildings [with students and staff] to deploy the radon monitors in all occupied areas as well as retrieve all equipment without disrupting daily activity.
To accommodate the schedule of the schools, the deployment was scheduled for hours when the building was vacant. Deployment was performed in the evening and retrieval was also conducted in the evening (to reduce as much disturbance to the staff and students.
Northern Illinois Radon worked with DLA Architects and the District to ensure all buildings in the districts were radon tested and mitigated appropriately.
