Scope Of Work

Ghirardelli Associates is providing on call construction inspection, office engineering, claims and scheduling support for various construction projects along the North Coast of California in Del Norte, Humboldt, Mendocino and Lake Counties (Caltrans District 1) through two on-call A&E consultant services contracts with Caltrans North Region Construction managed by Charlie Hayler and Chuck Dory.

This region of California includes state and federal highways that travel along several river valleys connecting the Cities of Eureka, Crescent City, Fort Bragg to main north/south corridors in California (U.S. 101 and I-5). The roads along these river valleys are prone to frequent rockslides and slip-outs that can close these essential corridors for extended periods of time followed by lengthy construction delays during the reconstruction work. Ghirardelli Associates has deployed skilled construction engineers and inspectors to work with Caltrans to quickly re-opening these roadways and managing the reconstruction projects.

Ghirardelli Associates’ staff has worked with Caltrans to maintain and improve the highways and bridges to provide a reliable transportation system not only for the movement of goods and services but also for the recreational travelers that are an important part of the economy to the communities in this part of California. Our engineers and inspectors live in these communities and understand the importance of protecting the natural and cultural resources as well as providing a reliable system of highways for travelers through this part of California.
