Scope Of Work

Ghirardelli was selected by OCTA to provide construction management and inspection services for the Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo Rail Corridor (LOSSAN) Right of Way (ROW) Slope Stabilization Project. The scope of work required working within an active rail corridor and brought a unique set of challenges that required a combination of both methodical planning and the ability to adapt to the types of unforeseen conflicts typical of underground construction. The LOSSAN Slope Stabilization project repaired previous erosion damage and will prevent future issues via a combination of enhanced drainage facilities and slope armoring.

Previously eroded slopes were regraded and protected through the installation of modern geosynthetic face armor, and historical concentrated flows were addressed with a combination of proposed
underdrain, channel, and energy dissipation facilities. All associated work was carried out under live track conditions and without substantial modification of existing utility facilities within the ROW. Ghirardelli services included construction inspection to OCTA standards and coordination with rail agencies’ standards and specifications as part of construction management services.
