Scope Of Work
Ghirardelli is providing construction management support to Caltrans on the Eureka-Arcata Route 101 Corridor Improvement Project. Work for this project includes the replacement of the Jacoby Creek Bridge, which is located between Eureka and Arcata.
Caltrans is constructing a new SB bridge adjacent the existing bridge, which will be constructed on temporary abutments. Once the bridge is complete, traffic will be diverted onto the new structure while the old bridge is demolished. In addition, new permanent abutments will be built on the original alignment.
The new superstructure (the deck) will then be slid onto the new abutments during a one-night closure, putting Route 101 southbound back to the original alignment.
