Scope Of Work

Crossland Construction was selected as the Construction Manager at Risk for the Jenks Northwest Elementary School Project. The educational facility is the first new, stand alone campus in the district in 25 years. With a capacity of 1000+ students, voters approved the new elementary school as part of a $120 million dollar district bond issue. The 160,000 square foot building sits on a heavily wooded and sloped site. As a result, Northwest Elementary became a three-story building that rose gracefully among the trees. 

The school’s exterior showcases two shades of masonry veneer to contrast the architectural pilasters. Two shades of exterior insulation finishing system contrast the top cornice pieces. Metal panels are incorporated in the end walls. Curtain wall glass accents can be found at the main entrance and the ends of the education wings. Classrooms have aluminum storefront windows that bathe the spaces in natural light. Parapet roof heights were designed to conceal rooftop equipment. Interiorly, ceramic wall tile covers the corridors, classroom walls, bathrooms, and hand wash stations, creating a cleanable, durable, and aesthetically-pleasing surface. The various classroom wings are color-themed to indicate grade level. Each class has a sink basin/drinking fountain unit to maximize space and reduce class disruption. There are two gymnasiums located in the school’s interior; a mezzanine walkway goes across the two, allowing the above floor traffic to see down into the gym space.
