Scope Of Work

The design team worked closely with Neighborworks New Horizons, Webster Bank, and the City of Waterbury to develop one of the first “Shared Streets” concepts in the State of CT. Our team worked to redesign the street to develop a “linear courtyard;” a street designed for pedestrians first and vehicular flow second. The new Gaffney Place Streetscape provides the setting for the reconstruction and painstaking restoration of the historic five structures. To accurately re-create the historic architecture, our team spent several weeks studying the “Queen-Ann” style of architecture and historic Waterbury photos found at the Mattatuck Museum and the Waterbury Republican American.
