The Makena Medical Center in Temecula, California consists of two 2-story buildings of 26,000 square feet each. Situated to share a common entryway, Building 1 houses an Urgent Care on the first floor, and Cardiology, Gastroenterology and Family Medicine suites on the second floor. Building 2 includes a children’s health center and built-to-suit office suites on the second floor.
The Makena Medical Center presented its own set of unique features. Given the municipality’s storm water requirements, the site was encompassed by a long-term use filtration trench which extended 10+ feet into below grade and provided a means for all building and site runoff to be processed for entry into the storm drainage system. Through close coordination and careful planning, these trenches were pre-installed early in the project and protected in place so that the site could be finish graded and site work completed next to these trenches without impacting the product life cycle.
