Scope Of Work
The Tiffany Creek Elementary School was originally built in 1989 by another contractor. The school was built with the existing site sloped towards the building, the sloped roof drained improperly and into the building, and covered up issues for mechanical ventilation, ice dams, etc. These on-going major issues prevented the school from passing a referendum for the school addition and remodel.
Remedy:
EDS Builders was brought in and resolved the moisture issues at Tiffany Creek Elementary through design; adjusting the exterior berms for proper drainage, installing retaining walls at entrances to accommodate drainage.
Situation:
The side of the Tiffany Creek Elementary School site was 1’ higher than the entrance to the building. Approximately 35,000 cy of material was removed. The new high school site was partially an old garbage dump and needed to be raised up.
Remedy:
We dropped the site on the side 2’, approximately 2 acres. The soil at Tiffany Creek Elementary was structural fill sand that could be used at the High School site. We had the contractor remove the garbage from the high school site and replace it with sand from Tiffany Creek. This resolved two issues; improved the drainage, installed a settling area for Tiffany Creek and used this material for the high school addition increasing the site to the required height for the building. By resolving the issues of mold and moisture at Tiffany Creek we removed a fester in the community and changed the attitude of the residents to “Pride of the Community School”
