Scope Of Work
This project involved protecting the operating switchgear from both potential and existing roof leaks. The first suggestion made by another company was to install drain pans above switchgear which would have meant 100+ gallons of water standing above switchgear operating with 3000+ amps. Working with the Site Supervisor and Project Manager, LRA Mechanical proposed to install a suspended roof above the switchgear and in the event of a major leak the water on the floor beneath the housekeeping pads would be removed by remediation. Thus no standing water would be held above switchgear and no welding would be required. During this project it was necessary to temporarily support existing cable trays, build the suspended roof and reattach cable trays to the suspended roof. All this was performed while equipment was under load and operational. Both the Contractor and Owner were pleased with the finished project and contract was fulfilled a week ahead of the deadline.
