Michael Scalzi's Bio
As a leader in the field of environmental technology, Michael Scalzi has been performing biologically and chemically based remediations since the late 1980s. In 1998, he founded Innovative Environmental Technologies (IET), an international environmental technology company that operates throughout the United States and Africa.
Throughout his career, Mr. Scalzi has performed remedial projects and designed and patented chemical, biological and mechanical processes, making him integral in expanding the application of in-situ remedial processes. His unique perspective relating to the integration of mixed technologies and delivery processes has allowed him to apply chemical oxidation, aerobic processes, anaerobic processes along with more traditional remedial approaches resulting in more affordable solutions.
In addition to his work at IET, Mr. Scalzi has developed curriculum for training environmental professionals for colleges in New York and Pennsylvania, has sat on numerous state and federal roundtables and advisory boards and has published several articles relating to his experiences and expertise.
Mr. Scalzi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and a Master of Arts in Microbiology from the State University of New York.
Wade Meese's Bio
Mr. Meese is the Vice President of IET. He has been performing biologically and chemically based remediation since the mid-1990s. His unique perspective relating to the integration of mixed technologies and delivery processes has allowed him to apply chemical oxidation, aerobic processes, and anaerobic processes along with more traditional remedial approaches resulting in cost savings to his customers. Mr. Meese has applied a variety of remedial technologies to over 250 sites across the country. Included in these projects are over fifty petroleum facilities in Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee, New Jersey, New York, California, and Pennsylvania.
Mr. Meese holds a bachelor’s degree in geology from The Ohio State University, holds patents in delivery and remedial processes, and has published numerous articles relating to his experiences and expertise.

Antonis Karachalios, PhD's Bio
Antonis Karachalios currently serves as the Manager of Technology Assessment for Innovative Environmental Technologies, Inc. With 15 years of experience in technology management, he has demonstrated a commitment to making a positive impact on the environment by working in the environmental services industry. Skilled in soil and water treatment, Environmental Impact Assessments, and Nanotechnology, he has designed advanced remediation technology for sites contaminated by heavy metals, chlorinated solvents, petroleum including gasoline and diesel range compounds, and pesticides.
His work includes testing various remediation technologies including, in-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO) and enhanced biodegradation. In addition to his work in the field of environmental technology, Mr. Karachalios holds 5 patents and has written publications on in-situ remediation.
Mr. Karachalios holds an M.S. and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in the United States.
Ian Connor 's Bio
Mr. Connor, Vice President of Operations, has been with IET since 2008. Mr. Connor holds a BS in Biology from Mansfield and has performed post-graduate work at Villanova in Environmental Engineering. Mr. Connor has managed and overseen over 50 remedial projects over the past seven years and has implemented a variety of remedial technologies ranging from in-situ reductive dechlorination via both abiotic and biotic technologies, in-situ and ex-situ chemical oxidation, NAPL stabilization, and metal stabilization in sites across the USA.
Justine Mariani 's Bio
Justin Mariani currently serves as the Vice President, Field Services at Innovative Environmental Technologies, Inc. With over 8 years of environmental remediation experience, he has varied experience in design, implementation and data interpretation of in-situ remediation projects. These projects include but are not limited to ISCO, ISCR, In-Situ Geochemical Stabilization, Biostimulation, and Bioaugmentation.
Mr. Mariani has managed more than 150 sites contaminated by heavy metals, chlorinated solvents, inorganic compounds and petroleum hydrocarbons throughout the United States. In addition to his work with Innovative Environmental Technologies, Mr. Mariani has published the “Implementation and Evaluation of an Innovative Treatment of BTEX and Trimethylbenzene using In-Situ Oxidation and Biological Mechanisms and Implementation” and “Evaluation of an Innovative Treatment of Chlorinated Solvents using Seaweed, Kelp and Blue Green Algae.” Mr. Mariani holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from North Carolina State University
Mike Tynan's Bio
Mr. Tynan, Southeast Drilling Manager, has been with IET since the start of 2016 and will be operating out of Concord, NC at one of IET’s newer facilities. Mr. Tynan holds a BS in Earth Science and Geography from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Mr. Tynan has managed and overseen hundreds of projects over the past 25 years dealing with environmental drilling, geotechnical drilling, and a variety of groundwater and soil remediation projects across the United States.
