Scope Of Work

This project consolidates and enhances a number of cardiac services presently located in diverse locations within the existing hospital facilities in the Texas Medical Center. These include 98 Cardiac Acute Care Beds, 5 Cardiac Cath Labs, a 20 bed 23-hour Stay Unit, Non-Invasive Cardiology and Imaging Unit, Satellite Pharmacy, Administrative Unit and Conference Facility, and supporting Satellite Dietary, Housekeeping and Materials Management services.  Future phases anticipate the construction of additional floors above the penthouse level to accommodate the expansion of services and the relocation of the CVICU and Cardio-Vascular Surgical Suite.

The new facility is planned as a high-rise structure with first phase consisting of four occupied levels plus a mechanical penthouse above a motor court plaza at grade level.  Two levels of parking are also planned below grade to replace and expand existing surface valet parking. There are a total of 88 parking spaces on P1 and 95 parking spaces on P2 for a total of 183 parking spaces below grade.  The Heart Institute will be connected to the main hospital at two locations.
