Scope Of Work
This unique project is positioned in the interstitial space of the garden style footprint at the Los Angeles Times Library on Woodbury University’s Burbank campus. S3 was hired by the university early on to perform design assist with due diligence and value engineering. With the combined efforts from the S3 team and the university’s representatives we were able to deliver this project well under budget and meet the required schedule.
The courtyard is constructed of concrete, steel and composite decking assuring the space will be an enjoyable and carefree venue for years to come. The architectural cast-in-place concrete walls are adorned with drought tolerant vegetation and illuminated by overhead string lights. The concrete flat work has been treated to expose the first layer of aggregate providing a natural sand finish texture.
Since completion this space has hosted a variety of events including wedding receptions, celebrity guest speakers and its daily use as a study space for the students of the school.
