Scope Of Work
This project is the first of two phases for the Klamath Falls Armed Forces Reserve Center joint-use facility at Kingsley Field ANG Base. The Oregon Air National Guard occupies the one-story, 14,000 sf facility; the second phase will serve the Oregon Army National Guard.
Site development, exterior building materials, and interior finish materials were chosen in compliance with Kingsley Field Base Construction Standards, Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) standards, LEED® requirements, Buy American Act requirements, and the building materials’ abilities to enhance the overall aesthetics and working environment of building occupants. The design provides a functional, quality, visually appealing facility that promotes the health, safety, and welfare of the occupants.
The $5.6 million, multi-use facility houses command, administration, Central Security Control, pass and ID stations, law enforcement, training rooms, mobility storage areas, a mobility pallet build-up area, locker rooms, and other support services for the 173rd Security Forces Squadron.
Sustainable Design Notes
The project was targeted for LEED™ Silver certification as part of a federal focus on sustainable and energy efficient buildings. When completed, it earned Gold and was the first building on base to earn a sustainable design designation.
The facility was designed for 25 years of useful life. Daylighting has been emphasized through room configurations, skylights integrated into the roofing system at select locations, and exterior sunshade devices. Open work areas, joint-use rooms, and sub-dividable rooms maximize flexibility.
