Scope Of Work

Hunter Roberts provided general contracting services for Phase 1 Renovations to the West Wing of the historic University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology & Anthropology.  The project included a 13,400 SF renovation to the first, second, and third floors of the museum.  The primary goal of the work was to provide conditioned spaces on all of the floors to accommodate the “Secrets of the Silk Road” Exhibit that opened in February, 2011.

The mechanical upgrades included the installation of three (3) new AHU’s, chilled water distribution system, heating hot water system, fin tube radiation and Automatic Temperature Controls.  All systems were designed and built with provisions for installation of additional AHU’s in future phases.  Electrical upgrades consisted of new track lighting and associated controls, new fire alarm system within renovated areas, new access control/security systems and CCTV along with upgraded power and distribution systems.

The exhibit was delivered from China and was set up at the beginning of 2011, which made the schedule for this work very critical.  The renovation also included replacement of existing windows, refinishing the existing terrazzo and stone flooring, and new plaster and drywall finishing.
