Scope Of Work

After the catastrophic Deepwater Horizon drilling rig explosion, an oil spill spread hundreds of miles across the Gulf of Mexico damaging wetlands and marine habitat. Immediately and urgently, Federal aid, emergency responders and environmental remediation crews were called upon to assist with mobilization and clean-up efforts. Several satellite operations were established across the Gulf Coast for the organizations and recovery crews to monitor and mobilize the oil flow.

British Petroleum (BP) needed temporary command centers at each of five satellite operations. Their specifications required approximately 18,000 square feet of modular office space to be installed within a two week time frame. The command facilities had to provide enough space to accommodate at least 300 people per site including BP personnel and tenants from other commercial organizations and government agencies. After meeting with BP officials to present a modular solution for disaster recovery operations and confirm design requirements, we were awarded the first temporary command center project. Shortly after, we received confirmation to deliver modular office space to the remaining four satellite operational sites as well.

We provided a total of 150 units with heavily modified floor plans to the five coastal operation stations located in Huoma, Robert, and Venice in Louisiana and Gulfport and Mobile in Alabama. In addition to an urgent timeline, extensive on-site building and modifications to accommodate the various tenants at each site, we encountered extreme heat and humid weather. To battle these adverse weather conditions and ensure the project timeline and needs were met, we utilized numerous service crews for round-the-clock installation. We also supplied project management support services and were on call 24/7.

The temporary command centers were delivered, installed and fully operational within the two week committed timeframe. Each command center incorporated various modular types including complexes, portable classrooms, toilet trailers, mobile and ground offices.

As a result of our teamwork, customer service and flexibility to deliver during difficult times, BP recommended WillScot to other organizations at the recovery site.
